Symmetrical Voice Leading, Comping, Chord Substitutions, and Scale Approach
In this masterclass we are going to use “Rhythm Changes in Bb” as our playground. To me ‘Rhythm Changes’ is one of those Jazz forms where it can be very limit to play over if you can’t find a freeing path in your improvisation. That is why many people have problems with it. I will however show you my approach to tackling this issue.
The topics we will cover here are symmetrical voice leading (triads), comping (focusing on rhythmical approach), chord substitutions (using tritone approach), and one-scale approach. We will learn the chord changes and analyze them (chord degrees and scales)
We will also take a look at different Rhythm Changes melodies and use there motifs to improvise.
With this Masterclass you will also receive complementary music sheets.
